RedsnOw 0.9.9b9 still tethered jailbreak for iPhone 4, 3GS (new bootrom), iPod touch 4G, 3G and iPad 1, and only untethered jailbreak for iPhone 3GS (old bootrom). Redsn0w 0.9.9 b9 bringing iOS 5.0.1 support (e.g. no need to point redsn0w at iOS 5.0 ipsw).

iPhone Dev-team implemented new amazing feature, Redsn0w 0.9.9 b9 bringing the new feature that came inNotcom's TinyCFW which allows iPad 2 (GSM / CDMA) users who have 4.3.3 SHSH blobs to downgrade from iOS 5.x to 4.3.3. But the interesting point in Redsn0w 0.9.9 b9, that it doesn't require lots of RAM 

What's New on Redsn0w 0.9.9 b9:

• native support for 5.0.1 (no need to point redsn0w at 5.0 IPSW or use command-line args).  Support automatically extends to all of redsn0w’s various functions: “Jailbreak”, “Just boot”, “Fetch blobs”, “Stitch blobs”, “Recovery Fix”
• iBooks fixed in 5.0 and 5.0.1.  This is a targeted fix that doesn’t remove entire sandbox mechanism.  5.x users already using redsn0w “Just Boot” can just use the new version without redoing entire jailbreak again
• 3GS old-bootrom owners can now create custom IPSWs without blobs
• ultrasn0w compatability update (i.e. same baseband requirements) for 5.0.1 will be available on Cydia Monday
• support for newer 8GB iPhone4 (which until now had problems with “Fetch blobs”).  Thanks to @JKjeepnJeff for loaning us one of these newer i4 units for testing!
• allows Windows users (not just OS X users) to use the “Custom” button to create IPSWs without baseband updates
• accommodates APTickets in 5.x (until next Apple countermove).  APTickets are crypto-verified before submitting to Cydia, just like the main blobs.  Cydia server support for sending back the APTickets is upcoming.  For now, use stitched IPSWs for 5.x.  Due to APTickets, stitched 5.x IPSWs now require user to start in “Pwned DFU” mode
• Support added for stitching 4.x blobs to iPad2-GSM IPSWs.  Similar to @notcom’s TinyCFW but doesn’t require lots of RAM or a TSS-assisted restore. Won’t work for iPad2 5.x blobs (or iPhone4S at all) until a bootrom-level exploit is out
• top line now shows whether (and where) a redsn0w update is available, or if the version being run is the latest.  Uses DNS TXT record to alleviate any concerns about snooping
• no 5.1 beta support at this time (major apps like Cydia are not yet compatible)
• @pod2g has been doing a great job porting his 5.x untether…check his blog for updates!
• Owners of newer 3GS iPhones must not flash the iPad baseband.  The iPad baseband will not work on 3GS iPhones built later than 2011 week 35.

How to downgrade iPad 2 3G (GSM / CDMA) from 5.0.1 / 5.0 / 4.3.5 to 4.3.3 for untethered jailbreak ? Well, Notcom, the talented and well-known iPhone developers has just created a new tool called TinyCFW that helps iPad2 3G (GSM / CDMA) and iPhone 4 users to downgrade their devices to iOS 4.3.3 for untethered jailbreak.

Why to downgrade iPad 2 from 5.0.1 / 5.0 to 4.3.3 ?

As most of you know that the only jailbreakable firmware on iPad 2 is iOS 4.3.3 which has been jailbroken with untethered jailbreak JailbreakMe 3.0 few months ago. Many of iPad 2 users have accidentally upgraded their devices to 4.3.5 / 5.0 or 5.0.1 which broke the untethered jailbreak. Notcom, has successfully found a trick that able to make the iPad 2 3G can be downgraded via a custom 4.3.3 firmware to re-enjoy the untethered iPad 2 jailbreak on iOS 4.3.3

What TinyCFW is:

• It will modify an existing ipsw for an ipad2 gsm/cdma or iphone4 gsm/cdma
• It WILL modify the ipsw TO UPDATE YOUR BASEBAND TO THE LATEST!
• It will create an ipsw that you can use with TinyUmbrella AND iTunes to restore to a version of iOS that you have SHSHs for.
• It is primarily for iPad2 with a baseband OR iPhone 4.

What TinyCFW is NOT:

• A jailbreak
• An unlock
• A tool to protect your baseband.
• A tool that will restore your device to any firmware
• A tool for use with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G, iPad, or iPhone 4S

Requirement :

• You MUST have iOS 4.3.3 SHSH blobs.
• Download iOS 4.3.3 for iPad 2 (GSM / CDMA)
• Download iTunes (Windows / Mac)
• Download TinyUmbrella (Windows / Mac)
• Download TinyCFW (Windows - Jar)

How to downgrade 5.0.1 / 5.0 to 4.3.3 on iPad 2 3G (GSM / CDMA) :

Step 1: Start TinyCFW application (double click on the jar or run the .exe file). You must have java and at least 2.5gb ram.

Step 2: Once the window comes up, click the top button and choose iOS 4.3.3 ipsw.

Step 3: Click the second button. The app will scan it and tell you the firmware and baseband versions in the ipsw you selected (iOS 4.3.3) and the firmware and baseband versions that will be in the target ipsw 

Step 4: Click 'Save Target IPSW'. This will take a minute or two and when it is finished, you will have a file named:

<your original ipsw name> .bbupdate.ipsw.

Step 5: Now we will start restoring iPad 2 to the new custom firmware created above, we will use iTunes and TinyUmbrella to do this. Now open Tinyumbrella and make iTunes look at Cydia's Server in the "Advanced" options.

Step 6: Plug your iPad 2 and switch it off

Step 7: Put your iPad 2 in DFU mode (If you don't know how to put your device in DFU mode - Click Here)

Step 8: Select the custom firmware you created above manually to restore your iPad 2. (Shift on Windows, and option on a Mac)

iTunes will till you that it will talk to Apple servers but actually it will talk to Cydia servers.

Untethered Jailbreak For iOS 5.0.1 Will Be Released “In Few Days”, 4S And iPad 2 Testing Is The Next Step

We just informed our readers yesterday that Pod2G, the hacker who is working on the untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.0.1 has successfully completed the jailbreak code for all Apple devices running on the A4 chip. This was really a great news and was a long time coming. This news meant that the untethered jailbreak would now work on all A4 devices.

We are really pleased to inform our fellow jailbreakers that the untethered jailbreak code has now been successfully tested on iPad 1 and iPhone 3G devices.

The only things left to be done are finalization of jailbreak for old devices, fixing of some stability issues and packaging the whole solution for the general release.

And while Pod2G gave no updates regarding the jailbreak status of iPhone 4S and iPad 2 in his previous update, he has now disclosed that the research work for the jailbreak solution for iPhone 4S and iPad 2 has also been initiated.

If you cant wait for the release and want to become a beta tester for Pod2G’s jailbreak solution, we have some bad news for you. Pod2G is not willing to release his solution for beta testing on fears of getting his solution leaked.
