We Know That it's not a new tool, it's the well know must have tool, Tinyumbrella. the developer behined Tinyumbrella 'Semaphore', has created a new post regarding that he is working hard on a new and improved version of Tinyumbrella that will allow you to restore your iOS device without iTunes.
From what's being said on his blog:
I've been working on a new and improved version of TinyUmbrellathat will, among other things, allow you to restore your iDevice without iTunes. With the holiday season and work, this will take me a bit to get working the way I want it. I appreciate your patience and your support. You guys are awesome :) No ETAs yet but I'll post updates here and on twitter.With this feature in TinyUmbrella, you won't need iTunes anymore and of course, this will bypass all errors while downgrading, updating, and may help with preserving the baseband. We'll post updates as they come, stay tuned !
